Back to School

Hello world, Summer Break was definitely a summer to remember. I went up to another island, I stayed their for three weeks. I got to see some of my good family and friends that I haven't seen ever since I was little. Each day was crazy we never had a day to rest. Me and my friends would go to all the secret beaches, a inside trampoline area, we went surfing at beach where my foot hit the coral.

Im very proud to be back in school and return as a G.T. student. This is my favorite class because we get to learn a hand full of technical things on gigantic mac computers, and get to put all of our creativity into each project that our teacher Mr.Sandrel gives us and a bonus is I get to sit by one of my best friends. The best memory I had since i'm back in school is when me and a big group of my friends went running onto the middle of the field. We screamed to the top of our lungs,  running and going crazy. I think people could hear us from a mile away.

The biggest challenge lately has been waking up early for school. Hearing my alarm is the worst part I just want to put it on silent and go back to bed. If only school started a little later id be a very happy person. Since that cant happened ill be looking forward to the next summer were I can get all the sleep I want.

This next year of me being a 7th grader will be successful by me going to sleep early so Im able to wake up and eat a full breakfast so I can focus better in all of my classes without getting distracted. I've also learned some lessons from last year it is too always turn in all my assignments before they are due, listen to directions carefully without going ahead unless I know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing, and lastly is too have an extraordinary blast because once were finished with middle school we never come back.

Words of Wisdom

This third quarter in GT, we had a project that was going to be voted for a hiki no project it was called "Words of Wisdom". This was for schools all over Hawaii. We had to have a group of around 4 people. My group had to choose one person that you were related to who was elderly and has wisdom for kids and adults allover. In my group we chose my grandpa who is a Hawaiian Musician on the island of kauai.
Are class was assigned to go out and interview my grandpa out of school and get shots of him playing his instrument and him working with his all his wires, Cd's, and fixing up his bag. During the Interview we had to have a rule of thirds shot so people would get their eyes caught there. This interview could obviously not be blurry at all so on our DSLR cameras we had to focus on me grandpa so that his eyes were crystal clear.
My grandpas wisdom is important because he shows everyone to follow you dreams. You should never give up for anything you are working for. He also shares aloha through telling story when he was a child and from his relatives, especially when he is playing music he shares aloha, and loves putting smiles on peoples faces.

Five Tips for Turning Your Homework on Time

In class, we had to do a project on five tips and we could choose anything we wanted to. Me and my group chose 5 tips on how to turn in your homework on time. We had to go to one of our houses and film different shots of one of our team members working on her homework and turning off things that might distract her. We chose this topic because homework is something not all kids like doing. They rather be hanging out with friends, watching t.v., or going to the beach. So this was a great chance for us to to give out simple tips for getting your homework done without procrastinating. We could have done by communicating better on where we would film, who would take us where, so next time we do a project we would have to make sure to communicate and work together better.

Three Shot Sequences

When creating a great video story you want to have shots in sequence so that the your audience wont lose interest. Especially if you're just showing images that don't go with the story or fit in right the audience want to feel like there apart of the video. If you were making a video on what i do on the weekends it would take way too long to show a video of your whole weekend so that why we put everything in sequences so you understand whats going on and it doesn't take up too much time.

Here, in this video it show a three shot sequence so it starts off at a wide shot, a medium shot, and then a close up shot of me picking up my binder. This is better than just one shot of me grabbing my binder because its like you get to see me in different spots around me.

Composition Techniques

Turning Your videos and pictures good to great composition video techniques will do the job.
The composition techniques that can be used are rule of thirds, framing, unusual angles, and leading lines.

Rule of thirds helps make an image more dynamic and interesting. It also creates a balance to the image or video without it being so busy.

Framing is composing a frame around your subject this will show depth, gives emphasis to the subject, and grabs viewer's attention. Some examples of creating a frame can be doorways, windows, tunnels, and tree branches. Taking pictures at eye can get boring taking pictures to the next level like finding unusual angles some people want a different perspective. Getting above or below the subject, tilting the camera right or left, getting super close to your object or farther away.

Unusual Angles is my favorite because you can take a picture or a video either down low, up high, to the sides, and make it different from many pictures where its just eye level were it can get boring.

Leading Lines is when you have lines that are leading to the main subject of your video or the picture or you can say its a path for the eye. Some examples for leading lines can be roadways, a river, bridges, and a window.

All About Me

Hello, my name is Nahele Keale, I'm 12 yrs. old and was born on October, 1, 2001 at Castle Memorial Hospital on the Island of Oahu. I lived on Oahu for the first year of my life until I moved to the island of Kauai. My mom and dad didn't want to raise me on Oahu so we moved to a the beautiful, tropical, island of Kauai.

I have no brothers or sisters but I do have 2 Australian Shepard's, 2 sheep and used to have around 50 or more chickens!  The chickens are all gone, but we may be getting more later. My mom is a nurse and my dad is working in Alaska.

I was in  Kapa'a Elementary from Kindergarten to the 5th grade.  This school was a great school with strict but nice teachers who taught me a lot. This is my first year in the G.T. Program as a 6th Grader in Kapaa Middle School.  I really enjoy this school and I don't ever plan on leaving. I'm either going to Kapaa or Kamemeha for High School. I heard a lot of good things about Kamehameha and hope too get in if I go.

Once I am finished with high school I would like to go to a college where I can learn to become an archeologist. Ive been wanting to do this later on because it seems very interesting to dig up ancient artifacts, sculptures, skeletons of bodies and learn about their culture, there life, and how they died. Especially since it involves traveling which is also one of my dreams to do. Traveling is what everybody should do at a certain time in your life and try different food, languages, old buildings, and much more.

Practice Profile Story

The purpose of our practice story was to understand what we were doing for the Hiki No project. This gave us a chance to get to know the Cameras, Lava Mike, to use final cut pro for editing our videos, and to critique the videos so we know what we should and shouldn't do for the " Elders Words of Wisdom" interview. The camera that we were using were very High Tech and had lots of buttons that I had never used on a camera before and now me and my group would know what to do and weren't lost. Lava Mike weren't used in any projects of my first year in the G.T. Program so it made it really exciting to be using something new.

The reason we all chose me was because they knew that I had a hobby of exercising so they decided to do that. Me and them thought this would be a good topic for a practice story. It would help us later on the bigger project. They also knew that I liked talking and I would love to get interviewed just in case I might get interviewed in the future. Then we thought exercising is something great to talk about because it so good for you and it makes you stronger mentally, physically, and you have a chance of living a long life.
